Gamers Lodge Passion 100 hours a Week<\/h1>

A man overcame a challenging start in life to run two successful businesses. Nathan Nolan\u2019s fortunes began to change when he went to the\u00a0University of<\/span> Liverpool<\/span><\/u><\/a> to study economics.<\/p>

After his studies, he set up a\u00a0technology company<\/u><\/a>\u00a0<\/span>called Vendi Tech and last year, the 30 year-old opened\u00a0The<\/span> Gamers Lodge<\/span><\/u><\/a>\u00a0<\/span>on Kempston Street in\u00a0<\/span>Liverpool city centre.<\/span><\/u><\/a>\u00a0It offers people the chance to play card, tabletop and board games, both casually and competitively. The Fabric District venue sees thousands of people pass through its doors each month and has now been nominated for a major award.<\/p>

Nathan has a similar venue to the Gamers Lodge in Preston and plans to open up more locations in the future. Speaking to the\u00a0ECHO<\/u><\/a><\/span>\u00a0about how he became interested in combining business and gaming, he said: \u201cI\u2019m from\u00a0Toxteth<\/a>\u00a0<\/span>originally. I grew up on the poverty line; my mum was on benefits<\/p>

\u201cWhen I was growing up, I used games – Pok\u00e9mon, Yu-Gi-Oh, whatever it was – to escape. It was like my little escape from my life and I just became quite passionate about it.<\/p>

\u201cI started playing and playing quite competitively with these like table top games, card games, like Yu-Gi-Oh and Pok\u00e9mon and whatnot.\u201d<\/p>

\u201cI ended up going to uni. I did economics and then a Master’s in economics. I went on into banking. I then started a business called Vendi Tech, which was my first venture into entrepreneurship. I did that with one of my best mates, and we built that up.\u201d<\/p>
